The company has over a decade of experience as Canada’s premier Format television expert, and won the coveted Rose D’Or in 2015 for one of its original productions. With headquarters in Montreal, an office in Amsterdam, sales partners in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea, as well as world-class representation by ICM Partners in Los Angeles, Media Ranch continues to grow. The company represents, and produces, a catalogue of internationally renowned proven titles, thousands of hours of premium content ready for distribution and dozens of paper formats that continue to create interest throughout the industry.
Media Ranch is continually evolving, and 2019 proved to be a landmark year. The company announced a partnership to represent the entire Format portfolio from the largest Danish broadcaster, DR. As well, Media Ranch celebrated the 12-territory sale of paper format WATCH!, and it’s first production in Germany in the summer of 2020.
Media Ranch currently runs a format incubator, Horsepower, in association with Quebecor Content, to train the next generation of talent. Paper formats born from the incubator have already found international attention. In 2020, Media Ranch joined forces to develop and sell new formats with FormatEast, a subsidiary of major broadcaster SBS, and South Korea’s premiere format incubator.
Media Ranch began as an exclusive representative of behemoth Endemol in French Canada, a relationship that lasted 9 years and brought hundreds of hours of entertainment to millions of viewers. The company continues to act as a consultant to Canadian and international producers in the development of their own format marketing strategies, as well as to financial institutions and key industry stakeholders.

President – Executive Producer
Sophie Ferron has proven herself in all areas of film and television: production, broadcasting, distribution and international business development. With over 30 years of experience, Sophie is a second-generation producer and helped pave the way for unscripted format production and distribution in Canada.
Before creating Media Ranch in 2008, Sophie held senior management positions with companies such as Astral Media, Technicolor and TQS. Sophie is a versatile person, bringing both her business acumen and creative flair to all areas of Media Ranch’s business.
Internationally, Sophie is a business and government affairs consultant on the Canadian media landscape. She is often invited to speak to expert groups at industry events and conferences. Over the years, Sophie has served on the Board of Directors of SODEC, Quebec’s public funding agency for film and television, was a member of the French Advisory Board of the Banff World Media Festival and President of the Association des studios d’enregistrement du Québec, where she negotiated the collective agreement with the Union des artistes, the actors’ guild.
She is currently on the board of Reelscreen and has spoken at a myriad of international events including MIPTV, MIPCOM and SXSW.
TAnjA VAN DER GOES
Senior Vice President
With over 15 years of experience in the international media industry focused on content distribution, exploitation and brand programming, Tanja joined Media Ranch as Vice President.
Previously, she was Director of Formats and Brand at Endemol Shine Group and Senior Director of Format Distribution at Endemol International, a position she had held since joining the company in 2008. Head of Media Ranch’s European offices, Tanja is based in Amsterdam and focuses on selling and acquiring formats that reach a global audience.
Head of Content and Storytelling
With a career spanning over two decades in the key areas of film, television and digital media, Philip specializes in scriptwriting and production. He is a two-time Canadian Screen Award nominee for the critically acclaimed viral web-series “YidLife Crisis”. Philip adapted the script and produced the award-winning feature film “Game of Death” (world premiere SXSW 2017); he was associate producer on “Lady Psycho Killer”, starring Malcolm McDowell and Michael Madsen and most recently wrote and produced the feature “Home” starring Emily Hampshire (Schitt’s Creek), François Arnaud (Borgias) and Christian Convery (Playing with Fire).
Always on the hunt for compelling unscripted television, he aims to find and create stories that entertain, inspire and innovate. He has extensive experience in both linear web series and complex interactive projects. He co-developed and produced the first large-scale interactive ARG in Canada, “The Judas” for Couzin Films and Kngfu (licensed by Radio-Canada). Philip holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with distinction from the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema at Concordia University, specializing in film production.
Head of Sales in French Canada – Development Ninja
Alexa Jorizzo was born to be a development ninja and is the third generation in her family to embark on a successful television career. Her first position at Media Ranch was as casting director for the successful show “True Sex Confessions”. She was a researcher on “The Expert” before becoming a full-time administrative assistant to CEO Sophie Ferron.
Alexa has recently been promoted and is working with the development team to search for new content at Media Ranch. She obtained a Bachelor of Administration degree from the École des sciences et de la gestion de Montréal (Québec) and worked tirelessly for many years as a counsellor at the prestigious Camp Papillon for Disabled Children. She took her love of children and applied it to the television industry, starting with the role of babysitter in the successful show “Parent Double Agent”. Sales Consultant in English Canada
Owen Kelly is a film and television production financing professional who has managed business affairs and production financing in virtually every area of media and entertainment – for studio independent films, live action and animated television series, digital media projects, and music.
Beginning his career with leading film and television producers such as Capri Films, Darius Films, 9 Story Entertainment and the leading film tax incentive company Global Incentives, Owen has built a reputation as a skilled professional, particularly in the area of Canadian and U.S. tax credits. Conventional co-productions and production financing.
Format & Program Sales CEE & Russia CIS
Malgorzata joins the Media Ranch team with over 12 years of experience in program sales and acquisitions: having started her career at TVP and TV Puls in the programming and acquisition department in Poland. Malgorzata is also an ashtanga yoga practitioner and a slow jogging instructor.
Prior to joining the team, she was VP Sales EMEA at The Story Lab and worked at the international sales team of Lagardère Studios in Paris covering CEE & Russia, Italy and Germany.
